The PTA will be providing Student Directories to all NTES families. Please be sure to complete the Student Directory Information Form if you want to be listed in this year's directory. This form is due back Friday, September 10th.
As the Student Directory is given free to each NTES family, we are selling advertising space in the book to off-set the cost of printing. If you have a business or service that you would like to advertise, please complete the Student Directory Advertising Form and return it to the school, with payment, by Friday September 17th. |

"SOARING TO SUCCESS" Direct Donation Fundraiser |
|
|
|
|
Friday, 13 August 2010 17:14 |
|
SOARING TO SUCCESS is a PTA fundraiser that eliminates any door-to door sales and soliciting that other fundraisers often require. It is simply a one-time tax-deductible donation made directly to the NTES PTA. The biggest benefit of Soaring to Success is that it enables us to put 100% of monies raised towards PTA programs (there is no overhead or monies payable to outside sales organizations). This year our goal is to raise $20,000 through Soaring to Success; which is approximately $25 PER STUDENT. To make a donation, please complete the Soaring to Success donation form.
Survey results from last year indicated that over 75% of parents preferred to give a direct donation to the PTA versus selling items door to door. In that vein, it is our hope that via the SOARING TO SUCCESS fundraiser, and the Entertainment coupon book sales taking place at the beginning of the school year, we can raise enough funds ($30,000.00) so that we do not have to do another “door-to-door” sales fundraiser during the remainder of the year. We will keep you posted on our progress toward this goal.
Remember, all contributions to "Soaring to Success" are tax deductible; receipts will be provided.

This year the NTES PTA will begin using a free on-line tool called SignUp Genius for creating and managing our Parent Involvement and Volunteer lists. Many local schools began using this system last year with fantastic results and positive feedback from parents.
The system is very user friendly and will allow us to automate our volunteer sign-up process. Some of the SignUp Genius features are:
- User friendly emails regarding volunteer opportunities
- Instantaneous ability sign-up to volunteer
- Instantaneous ability to make changes to your availability status
- Automatic reminders to volunteers about events they have signed up for
- No more multiple email chains and confusing volunteer sign-up sheets
In order to begin using SignUp Genius at NTES, we need you to complete the information on the sign-up form and return this sheet to the school by September 10th. Thanks for your support!

Building a strong community takes each one of us, and volunteering to play an active role in the New Town Elementary PTA is the place to start!
Interested in helping the PTA for the upcoming 2010-2011 school year? Here's your chance to get involved! We have several Chair/Co-Chair openings just waiting for you. The Committees in need are:
- Cultural Arts: This committee works with the school staff and PTA teacher representative to plan and coordinate school wide assemblies which enrich students’ knowledge and understanding of other cultures (i.e. musical performances, dance troupes, speakers, dramatic theatrical shows, etc).
- PEAK: The PEAK program is an after-school program that meets for one hour weekly for a period of six weeks (Fall and/or Spring). This committee is responsible for creating a list of classes that will be offered, securing a teacher for each class, creating and distributing registration information, assigning students to classes and coordinating volunteers.
- Spring Festival: This committee is in charge of planning, scheduling and coordinating all aspects of the annual NTES Spring Festival. Please note: The core members of the Spring Festival Planning Committee from the past two years are all willing to continue as planning committee members; we simply need a Chair/Co-Chair to oversee/coordinate all areas/activities and be the main contact point for the school.
